Full-Time (1.0 FTE) Temporary Educational Assistant

St. Peter the Apostle Catholic High School in Spruce Grove, AB is currently seeking an Educational Assistant to work closely with students, teachers, and other school staff to provide support to students with diverse academic and social/emotional needs. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required. If you have a passion for education and helping students reach their full potential, we welcome you to apply for this rewarding position.

The assignment is to begin April 5, 2023, and end May 3, 2023, with the possibility of extension to the end of the school year 2022-2023.

Preference Given to Candidates with the Following Qualifications:

• Experience utilizing strength-based, trauma informed practices
• Experience working with students with diverse needs
• Able to effectively deal with crisis situation; physically able to lift and/or protect
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate
• Mental Health First Aid or equivalent
• Diploma in child/youth care, Educational Assistant Certificate is an asset

Additional certifications and experience in utilizing strength-based, trauma-informed practices, working with students with diverse needs, dealing with crisis situations, and having Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate and Mental Health First Aid or equivalent is preferred. A diploma in child/youth care or an Educational Assistant Certificate is an asset for this position. In addition to these skills and qualifications, the ability to communicate effectively, strong organizational skills, patience, adaptability, and empathy are also important for this role.
