The Position: We are seeking one temporary, full-time Education Program Assistant to join our team for the summer. This position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ). Eligible applications must be between 15 and 30 years of age and be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents of Canada. This is an 8-week position ($18/hour, 35 hours/week), with an anticipated start date of July 4, 2023. The Education Program Assistant will primarily work on-site from our office in Kelowna. This position will require occasional travel to community events and some work on evenings/weekends (e.g., to attend community events).
Tasks and Responsibilities: The main priority of this position is to assist with community outreach and brain injury prevention and education initiatives. The individual will provide community-based brain injury education through community booths, training presentations, and resource development. Specific programs the Education Program Assistant will support include BrainTrust’s Helmet Safety program and Brain Injury and Substance use Education for Youth (BISEY) program.
Primary tasks include: scheduling and planning community-based education events and brain injury trainings (i.e., education booths for BISEY program), developing evaluation plans for education and prevention initiatives, administrative support and distribution of helmets to children for the Helmet Safety program, development of evidence-based resources (e.g., fact sheets, blog posts, slide decks) for various audiences, volunteer development, and communications.
What We Are Looking for: The successful applicant will be enrolled in a related diploma or degree and will excel in working independently and within a team. Relevant work/volunteer experience is an asset. Previous experience and knowledge of brain injury is an asset. A driver’s license and personal vehicle is an asset.
