Coast Tire & Auto Service Ltd. has a full-time opening at our New Glasgow location in NS for a licensed Automotive Technician or 4th year Apprentice, preferably with experience in Diagnostics.

Coast Tire is proud of its reputation as a leader in the Tire Industry, Automotive Aftermarket and as a leader in Health & Safety. We operate numerous locations throughout the Maritime Provinces and we perform Motor vehicle inspections and other various mechanical services.

Qualifications include:

• Post –Secondary Education - Automotive Program
• Licensed Automotive Service Technician, or 4th year Apprentice
• Tire Training & Certification considered an asset
• Valid Driver’s License; must be insurable (no major infractions in last 7 years);
• Must be physically capable to do the work
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be willing to take the appropriate training as required
• Upgrading skillsets (Mechanical)
• TIA Tire training & certification
• Safety training as it relates to the trade (Legislated or not)
• Ability to work independently and with others
• A strong team player with a willingness to mentor apprentices;
• Must be adaptable and possess excellent oral and communication skills;
• Must have a positive attitude
• Must be detail oriented;
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple objectives;
• Ability to document details and complete checklists
• Must have an ability to utilize computer systems and programs;
• Electronic and diagnostic experience.

Main Job Duties include:

The successful candidate’s will be required to perform various mechanical duties, including but not limited to diagnostics, alignments, brakes, suspension work and required vehicle maintenance.

Installation of non-mechanical parts including tires, wipers and other accessories will also be required along with ensuring equipment is properly inspected and maintained.

Daily visual inspections of hoist, calibration checks of torque wrenches and wheel balancer and verification of air gauges to master gauge is also required. Work orders and checklists must be filled in and findings must be documented properly.
